The Story Behind Pocketpaints

I didn't create PocketPaints to make more artists.

Pocketpaints began with a simple wish: to give my daughter a creative outlet that didn’t require a whole production. I’ve always loved art, but I often felt overwhelmed by the techniques, the supplies, and the pressure to make something “perfect.” Watching her experience the same frustration made me want to create something gentler—something that made creativity feel easy instead of intimidating.

I created PocketPaints because I wanted my daughter to have something creative that didn't require a screen, a pile of supplies or the pressure to be good at it. Somewhere along the way, I realised adults needed that too. We've become very good at filling every spare moment with scrolling - waiting for coffee, sitting on the couch, school pick-up, before bed. PocketPaints is our tiny rebellion against that. Twenty minutes. Phone down. Paint something. Zero perfection.

1 I've never painted before. Is this really for me?

Yes. Especially if you think you're “not
artistic.” PocketPaints is intentionally simple: open it, add water and start.
No lessons or art experience required.

2 I'm not artistic. Won't this just make me feel worse?

Probably the first time, for about ten minutes. Then you stop caring, because nobody is marking it. The
kit is deliberately small — a 9 × 14 cm page isn't a canvas, it's a margin.
Nothing you make on it is meant to be framed.

3 Why 20 minutes?

Because it's short enough to fit into real
life and long enough to make something. The PocketPaints 20 is an offline
ritual, not a commitment to becoming an artist.

4 Is it actually good quality, or is it a novelty?

Walnut palette, 100% cotton paper,
twelve water-based pigments. It is a small kit built properly, not a large kit

5 Is it messy?
